A directory of Black-owned businesses in New York City, published with an eye to improving the economic standing of Black people in the city—in the words of the publication’s owner, Celeste Morris, to “commit[...] to Black economic power building.” This edition of the directory, which contains “Black Facts” about history alongside its listings, is dedicated to Nelson Mandela, who was released from prison in February of 1990. We find one other copy of this issue in OCLC, at Cornell University, and four total copies of any issue of the Big Black Book.
