3 measures in black ink. The somewhat dramatic entry of the double bass 8 measures before performance figure V in the last movement of the Capriccio entitled Fandango, asturiano (p. 78 of the full score published by Belaïff).
Marked "Contrabassi" at head. Inscribed "a Monsieur Dancéls" at head, identified in the composer's autograph, and signed and dated "13 Avril 1890."
Notated on the verso of a fine half-length cabinet card photograph by K. Shapiro of the composer published in St. Petersburg, mounted on heavy light pink stock. Overall size 163 x 107 mm.
In a highly attractive custom-made mid-tan morocco presentation folder with blindstamped rules and decorative cornerpieces, black morocco title label gilt to upper and ivory silk inner mat with protective flaps.
In very good condition overall, with the word "Capriccio" and the last three letters of "Korsakow" lightly inked. Op. 34, Rimsky-Korsakov's Kaprichchio na ispanskiye temï [Spanish capriccio], was composed in 1887 based on a projected Fantasia on Spanish themes for violin and orchestra. It was first published in Leipzig in 1888.
