Octavo (21cm); illustrated dust jacket with 12s 6d net price intact; boards in patterned gray cloth and black cloth spine with gilt lettering; 61pp. Jacket rubbed along edges with a small bump and crease at bottom rear, darkening to spine, and scattered foxing, with much heavier foxing to verso. Boards are square and sturdy, with a small bump at bottom rear corner. Endpapers lightly toned. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.

Signed by the author on front free endpaper with inscription "For John and Shirley, with love and no seltzer from Adrian (Iowa City 1964).
