By Keeler, Harry Stephen
New York/Chicago: A.L. Burt Company. Very Good. (c.1932). Reprint. Hardcover. (lacking the original dust jacket, but encased in a nice-looking facsimile reproduction of the first edition jacket; see 2nd image posted with this listing, and Notes) [good sound copy, light fraying to cloth at top of spine, a bit of light foxing to top edge and fore-edge]. Typically whacked-out Keeler classic, this one a whopping LXXII chapters (with titles like "The Gentleman in Cannibal Land," "Televisic Claret vs. Televisic Cardinal," "Oley Olson Does a Yob!", etc.) in 765 pages . A New York Times critic once remarked that all the author's novels were "written in Choctaw." NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, to serve the dual purpose of protecting the book from further wear and enhancing its appearance on the shelf; its presence has not been factored in to our pricing. It should also be noted that the facsimile (of the Dutton first edition jacket) is a mismatch, which I ordinarily wouldn't do -- but that this particular book is NOT as flimsy and ill-made as most A.L. Burt books; in fact, it has the weight and heft of the first edition, and as it happens the facsimile jacket is nearly a perfect fit. .
