Why the Private School?

[the slightest bit of scrunching to the upper corners of a few pages, no other significant wear; the jacket has a handful of tiny edge-tears and nicks, very slight paper loss at the base of the spine]. Why indeed? (I wonder if the answers today are very much different from those in 1952?)
