By Johann Mulmann
Lipsia [Leipzig]: Cristiano Gotze / Apresso Micaele Voigt, 1682. Very Good. First Editions. Two volumes in one; small, thick 12mo (13cm); full contemporary parchment, upper cover adorned with contemporary manuscript (see below), all edges stained red; 216, 114pp. (collated complete); blank leaves interwoven between each page in the first volume for easy note taking. Spotting to parchment, especially rear cover, brief worming affecting front pastedown and free endpaper, else a Very Good example. Contents as follows:

1. "Passo-Tempo de' Curiosi." Lipsia [Leipzig]: Cristiano Gotze, 1682.

2. "Raccolta d'ingeniosissimi Proverbii." Lipsia [Leipzig]: Apresso Micaele Voigt, 1678.

Two compilations of proverbs, jokes, and literary pratfalls compiled by minor man-of-letters Johann Mulmann (1642-1715). The first of the two volumes interleaved with blanks for note taking, though the original owner has only briefly taken advantage to a few leaves. Of special interest is the handsome contemporary binding, whose upper cover is adorned with the quote from Titus Maccius Plautus, "Non laudandus est, quoi credit plus qui audit, quam qui videt ; Non placet, cum illi plus laudant, qui audiunt, quam qui vident ; Pluris est oculatus testis unus, quam auriti decem. Qui audiunt, audita dicunt ; qui vident plane sciunt.‎
