A hand-colored woodcut handbill depicting an illustration from a children's book ("My Little Pony") with a children's poem on the verso ("Charles With His Grey-Hound"). The exact purpose of such promotions is unknown. They may have different audiences based on the caption information; one reads "sold wholesale", others "sold by", etc. This one does not have either. They also tell an interesting story about the evolving publishing industry. The graphics are usually bold and striking and in conjunction with the captions interestingly thought provoking. This example measures approx. 6.25" by 4.75
