By Orientours
Baghdad, Iraq: Orientours, 1959. Very Good. Baghdad, Iraq: Orientours, [ca. 1959]. Oblong octavo (16.5x21cm); publisher's blue staple bound wrappers printed in dark blue; 52pp.; halftone photographs and illustrations throughout printed entirely in blue. Light soil and brief curling to wrapper margins, else a Very Good or better example. Date of publication based on newspaper appearances of Orientour advertisements, which began popping up in 1959.

Unrecorded brochure by the Baghdad-based travel company Orientours, marketing two and three-day tours of Iraq and the Middle East for American and British travelers ("you will have no difficulty when using only English in Iraq"). The work opens with a short overview "How to get the most out of your visit to Iraq," including the country's characteristics, as well as passport, customs, and health regulations (smallpox health certificate required).

More important factors are also addressed, such as gambling (excellent race track at El-Mansour in Baghdad), liquors (drink Arrack, "but drink it cautiously"), and shopping (embroideries, rugs, gold and silver filigree). Americans need not fear, at the better restaurants and hotels one can still get "American Coca and Pepsi Colas!!!"

We find no copies in the trade, OCLC, or Library Hub as of August, 2025.
