Erwin House (1824 - 1875) was a Methodist Episcopal minister from Ohio. He worked as an editor for the Ladies' Repository and published several books, mostly with a religious message, aimed for youths. This book includes chapters on missionary work in New Zealand, Fiji, Madagascar, India, and other places. They are not first hand accounts by House, but rather a compilation of nine narratives of missionary work from the 1790s, when the London Missionary Society was established, through the mid-1800s.

Bound in the original green cloth boards with gilt title to spine. Dampstains which appear to be from a glass being placed on it to both boards. Minor wear to edges of boards and corners including a bump / cloth repair to edge of front board. Previous owner's signature in pen to bottom of title page. Foxing and occasional spots of soiling throughout. Light dampstain to top corners of last few pages. 393 pages plus 10 pages of ads. SOPAC/062525.
