Spine is paneled, quarter-bound in black leather, with gilt text. Boards are bound in green paper and show moderate scuffing and shelf wear on covers and along edges. Some chipping to front board on fore corners and on fore edge, resulting in small areas of exposed board. Several white scuffs present on back cover. Cracking along joints/edges of spine, which is most severe at corners of head, where there is minor splitting. Text block bottom and fore edges are untrimmed, with top edge gilt, and show expected age toning. Light shelf wear and scuffing on text block edges. Foxing present on pages throughout book. Inscribed in dark blue ink by Vanderbilt on first free endpaper: "To D. H. Cox / with the compliments of the author / W. K. Vanderbilt / June 12 1933". Shelved in Room A Oversize.
