Handwritten Record Book of Trapshooting Trophies Won by C.H. Newcomb of Philadelphia Between 1904 and 1942 (With Mounted Signed Photo)
- Full leather
Full leather. Very Good +. Charming handwritten record book, meticulously recorded, of the achievements in the world of trapshooting by Philadelphia businessman and world class trapshooter C.H. Newcomb (Charlie Newcomb, 1874-1947). Newcomb began recording his victories in December 1904 (The S.S. White Handicap Cup in Philadelphia) and continued making precise, very neat entries for the next 38 years, through March 1942 (The Pair Line Pheasants High-In Handicap in Holmsburg, PA). Incredibly, the recording of honors he received (both locally and nationally) take up 493 pages. The record book has held up very nicely as well: clean. tightly-bound and VG+ in its full dark leather, with bright gilt-titling to the front panel. A bit of light rubbing along the spine and mild mustiness emanating from the pages. Thick 12mo, all edges gilt. Also includes an original mounted photograph of Charlie Newcomb, boldly signed by him below the image. Among Charlie Newcomb's accomplishments in the world of trapshooting: Inducted into the PA Trapshooting Hall of Fame 1991; Inducted into the World Trapshooting Hall of Fame 1999; Won the World Championship Cup in Atlantic City in 1910; and set 2 world records in 1914 and 1916 in specific classes of trapshooting. A wonderful piece of Americana.
