First of two collaborations between Sejourne and Carrington, both of whom were born in Europe and pursued their respective political, academic, and artistic pursuits in Mexico, each eventually becoming naturalized citizens. Supervivencias details some of the ancestral spells, witchcraft, and indigenous folk beliefs of Mexico with chapters on "Conjuros y encanamientos," "El culto magico de una Virgen," and "Muerte y brujeria," among others. A notable collection and scarce in retail. The pair also worked on El Mundo Magico de Los Mayas, published in 1964.  .
