New Year's Greeting Card with Multiple Victorian Scrap Layers

  • England , 1870
By
England, 1870. Very good. Light dust soiling, some separation between layers at left-hand edge.. An attractive 12mo greeting card made from layered embossed Victorian card. The outermost layer features a lace paper-like border, and embossed chromolithographed flowers. Through the flowers is a window through which the viewer can see a layer of printed curtains, which part to reveal a young brunette girl holding the message "I wish you a happy New year". Provides an overall very attractive and unique effect. Measures approx. 4.5" by 3", verso blank.
