Prize inscription to verso of front endpaper, dated 1874. A tidy copy, with some mild rubbing to cloth; mild foxing to catalog at rear, else internally clean, tight and unmarked – easily Very Good. A charming introduction to members of the family Trochilidae. Beautifully illustrated, and clearly written for a grammar-school audience (in fact this title also appeared in the publisher's series "The Young Naturalist's Library").
