This book takes a panoramic look at the extensive social research work recently carried out in the country on gender relations and the performance of men in different spheres of life -without pretending to cover all existing studies-. The central interest is to account for the scope of the transformations in gender relations that have occurred in Mexico, as well as in the attitudes and practices of men in this area. It is a question of making this visible, but also of noting the male resistance to such advances and the repercussions of this in the lives of women and families. For this, the need to dissect the study of the performance of men in different domains or dimensions of gender relations is established: exercise of sexuality, fulfillment of the provider function, participation in domestic and care work, and male violence in homes.
