[AMERICANA] TLS BY BRYAN ON THE COMMONER LETTERHEAD. | THE COMMONER. VOL. 15, NO. 8
- Lincoln, Nebraska: William J. Bryan, 1915
Lincoln, Nebraska: William J. Bryan, 1915. Very Good+ binding. A typed letter signed by William Jennings Bryan, the American politician, on The Commoner letterhead. Also with an excised leaf from an issue of The Commoner from the same year, August 1915. Two months prior, Bryan resigned his position of Secretary of State under President Wilson in protest over the administration’s progressively friendly stance to the Entente powers and the prospect of American intervention. A Reverend of the Presbyterian Church in Liberty, Missouri wrote his support of Bryan’s actions on June 11, and this is Bryan’s delayed response; with an excised leaf from the upcoming issue of Bryan’s antiwar publication, The Commoner, as mentioned in Bryan’s letter. Both are folded, with small tears along the folds of The Commoner. Very Good+ binding.
