New York: William Sloane Associates, Inc. (An Anderson House Book). Very Good+ in Very Good dj. (c.1948). First Edition. Hardcover. [light shelfwear to book, "Return to Story Department, Samuel Goldwyn Productions, Inc." stamped on both endpapers and (rather sloppily) on page 15; the jacket is faded a bit unevenly along the spine and the upper part of the front panel, and has a few tiny nicks and closed edge-tears here and there]. "The story of Anne Boleyn from the time when King Henry first came to claim her to the time when she is awaiting her execution." The original Broadway production starred Rex Harrison (who won a Tony) and Joyce Redman as Henry and Anne; in the 1969 film version the roles were taken by Richard Burton and Genevieve Bujold. Interesting to note that this copy was once the property of the Story Department at Samuel Goldwyn Productions; I don't know how seriously Goldwyn might have considered it for production, given that this kind of historical drama was never really his thing. (The 1969 movie was produced by Hal Wallis, who definitely *was* in that mood at the time (his very next picture was MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS), for Universal Pictures release. Although both films got a boatload of Oscar nominations (with only a single win between them, however: ANNE for Costume Design), neither one matched the critical success of his earlier production of BECKET.) .
