Murders in the Rue Morgue (Original photograph from the 1932 film)
- N.p.: N.p., 1932
N.p.: N.p., 1932. Vintage reference photograph from the 1932 film, showing actors Bela Lugosi and Leon Ames looking on while Sidney Fox encounters a sinister ape (Joe Bonomo in a monkey suit).
Loosely based on the 1841 short story by Edgar Allan Poe, an atmospheric tale heavily influenced by German Expressionism, about a mad scientist who kidnaps the women of Paris in order to mix their blood with his pet gorilla's. The film was the first to have Lugosi in the role of a mad scientist or doctor, a role he would reprise throughout his career.
9 x 7 inches. Very Good plus, moderately soiled on the verso.
