By Fox, John
Seal Beach CA: Bacchus Press. Near Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1977). First Edition. Hardcover. [minimal shelfwear to book; the jacket shows a teensy bit of surface wear and some very light soiling]. INSCRIBED at some length and SIGNED by the author on the front endpaper: "To Alfred Sheinwold: / I hope you enjoy / this book & that it / helps to improve / your poker game. / (If you play poker / one-half as well as / you play bridge you / certainly won't need it.) / Good luck, / John Fox." The book purports to present "the complete psychology, mathematics and tactics of winning poker." The inscribee was a major figure in the world of bridge; known as "the Grand Old Man of Bridge," he was a co-creator of contract bridge and was a prolific writer and editor in the field, including a syndicated newspaper column on the topic which ran for more than thirty years. (I do wonder how well his skill set tranferred to the poker table, though.) Signed by Author .
