The book purports to present "the complete psychology, mathematics and tactics of winning poker." The inscribee was a major figure in the world of bridge; known as "the Grand Old Man of Bridge," he was a co-creator of contract bridge and was a prolific writer and editor in the field, including a syndicated newspaper column on the topic which ran for more than thirty years.
