Paneled spines have morocco green labels with gilt lettering and ornamentation. Boards have rubbing wear to spines, minor bumping to fore corners, chipping to corners, and light scuff marks. Textblock has a range of light plus to moderate foxing on some pages throughout, and mild wear to edges. Volume 1 rear foldout map has a tear along the edge (not impacting text). CGT Consignment. Henry George Ward (1797–1860) was an English diplomat, politician, and colonial administrator. He served as the British Charge d'affaires to Mexico. Ward's "Mexico in 1827" is one of the most exhaustive accounts of Mexico and its mining activities in the years following its independence from Spain. It provides a unique first-hand interpretation both of Mexico's early governments’ achievements and of the not insignificant problems they had as yet to overcome.
