In terms of comics, the Kree-Skrull war stuff tickled the same risibility and though I hate sequels, and have never written them, I did write independent stories set against the backdrop of Earth's ten-generation-long war with an alien race known as the Kyben. We've used five of those early stories for Night and the Enemy, several of which have been out-of-print for more than twenty-five years. Then I wrote a special framing device to link them. And for this special hardcover edition from the remarkable Graphitti, I've written a brand-new 3600-word story, 'The Few, The Proud,' illustrated with one of the best Ken Steacy paintings he's ever done.
