Printed advertisement from the Western Transportation Co. and the Union Steamboat Co., announcing their new pleasure excursions between Buffalo and Chicago in 1881. Includes a list of the "elegant passenger steamers" including the Idaho, Fountain City, Nyack, St. Louis, Badger State, and Oneida. Promotes it as preferable to the "cramped and dusty cars" of the railroad as a means of travel, and lauds the steamers' elegant fittings and affordable pricing. Includes inside an image of Mackinac Island, Michigan, and on the front an image of a steamer. Illustrated bifolium (8.75" by 6").
