By Jackson, W. H. (William Henry). [Large Format Photographs] [Utah] [Colorado] [Beehive House] [Gardo House]
Denver, Colorado: W. H. Jackson & Co, 1880. Photograph. Very Good. Two large format photographs, one mounted to each side of a sheet of thin card stock [15" x 11 ½"]. "Salt Lake City, Utah" is 13" wide by 10" tall. "Mount of the Holy Cross" measures 13" tall by 10" wide. Condition is about Very Good. The mount is a bit worn, and has a loss from one of the margins measuring 3" x 1". The Mount of the Holy Cross image shows light edge wear, and the Salt Lake City photograph has two short closed tears along the top edge. Some light sporadic age toning and fading. William Henry Jackson was the first photographer to capture Colorado's Mount of the Holy Cross, in turn providing actual proof of its existence. The photograph of downtown Salt Lake City is taken from a hill near the lower Avenues / City Creek area, and looks south and east across the horizon. The Beehive House and the Gardo House can be seen in the middle ground distance.
