By Margaret Mitchell
Berlin: Deutsche Buch-Gemeinschaft, 1937. Boards. Near Fine. An especially clean, well-preserved example of the 1937 1st German edition of "Gone with the Wind", following the May 1936 true 1st edition (published by Macmillan in New York) by 1 year. This, the Berlin edition, was issued in 2 octavo volumes and, in this case, is especially attractive. Both volumes crisp and Near Fine in their mottled beige boards, with bright, completely unrubbed gilt-titling along the front panels and spines. Internally all-but-pristine, with no writing or markings to speak of. A touch of very light soiling along the spines, otherwise sharp as could be. Translated from its original English into German by Martin Boheim-Schwarzbach, the book design by Kurt Tillessen. Also includes both original silk bookmarks.
