- Paris: Paul Poiret, 1928
Paris: Paul Poiret, 1928. First edition. Hardcover. Orig. mustard cloth front cover printed in black and silver. Near fine. Unpaginated. 31 x 26 cm. Paul Poiret spearheaded the production of this album, designed to showcase luxurious French products from a wide variety of companies, such as the fashion house of the Callot Soeurs, to the cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden, to the Moulin Rouge cabaret and the import/export specialists Mitsubishi. The plates are an extraordinary array of advertisements by all the leading designers of the day, including Martin, Foujita, Cocteau, Boucher, Dignimont, Sem, Dufy, Dyl etc. Graphically, these are mostly conceived of as posters. A very striking collection of Art Deco design. Title on translucent paper, photographic portrait of Poiret, two leaves of introductory text, followed by six sections with a total of 115 plates, interspersed with section titles (all leaves on paper guards). Interior contents very clean and fresh. Backstrip head nicked.
