Countee Cullen (1903 - 1946) was an American poet, novelist, children's writer, and playwright, particularly well known during the Harlem Renaissance. Quarter yellow cloth over patterned paper-backed covers. Pasted onto the ffe is a clipping, apparently from a Harvard publication, of notice of two Harvard men receiving poetry awards, noting that "Countee P. Collen,... a negro, was awarded the Reed Memorial Poetry Prize. 'Color', a volume of Poems by Cullen, was recently published by Harper & Brothers" Spine lighly soiled, corners worn, solid binding. No names, inscriptions or bookplates.
