The Rainbow

  • New York: B.W. Huebsch, 1916
By D.H. Lawrence
New York: B.W. Huebsch, 1916. Very Good. New York: B.W. Huebsch, 1916. First American Edition. Octavo; 467pp. Tan cloth boards lettered in black; lacks dust jacket. Boards show mild edgewear; spine rubbed; soiling along edges with general smudging and stain to rear. Front board gives a little but binding holding soundly. Ownership inscription to front free endpaper; Brentano's ticket to rear; a couple inoffensive stains to edges of text block; else unmarked; still a Very Good copy of Lawrence's fourth novel, which was censored in England due to its frank portrait of sexual desire and a majority of the first UK print run was destroyed.
