New York: The Outing Company, Limited, 1893. Half-Leather. Good/No Jacket. Lacks Monthly Records sections (these were usually paginated separately from the rest of each issue). Spine toned, edges and endpapers lightly foxed, front hinge beginning to weaken, ink stamp on front endpaper. 1893 Half-Leather. 492; 480 pp. Leather spine and corners over pebbled cloth boards, gilt titles. Though it began as a cycling magazine called The Wheelman in 1882, its scope expanded to be quite broad, and it changed its name first to Outing and the Wheelman, then simply Outing. It encompasses hunting, fishing, mountaineering, hiking, golf, yachting, etc., etc. There are engraved plates and cuts throughout by various artists. It is also notable for publishing White Fang in serial form, and for printing illustrations by Frederic Remington. These were generally bound up into biannual volumes comprising six monthly issues, but here a full year's worth of issues are bound together.
