Harasti, a Franciscan father of Hungarian origin, arrived in Italy in 1780 and published several works on agriculture. This work contains chapters on the origins and natural properties of corn; the special qualities of each variety and preparation necessary before sowing seeds; the method of preparing the earth before planting; best times of the year to plant corn seed; caring for the plants as they grow to maturity; harvesting corn; proper storage methods for the crop; methods of grinding the corn into flour; and the economic advantages of cultivating, milling, and selling corn products.
