By Williams, Tennessee
New York: New Directions. Very Good+ in Good dj. (c.1951). 1st Edition (stated). Hardcover. [modest wear to book extremities; the jacket is a little bit ragged, with bits of paper loss to both ends of the spine and also a small hole mid-spine, 1.5" split at upper front flapfold, old retailer's sticker affixed to rear flap (The Mart, Los Angeles)]. Williams's play about an Italian-American widow's life after her husband is killed in an accident -- including her tempestuous romance with a truck driver; filmed in 1955 with Burt Lancaster and Anna Magnani. NOTE that although this is a stated "First Edition" (with the copyright note about its being the "revised and published version"), it is bound in beige cloth, NOT the "rose" or "pink" cloth which marks the first printing; hence I assume this is a slightly later printing, although additionally note that all the "Other Books by Tennessee Williams" listed on the rear jacket flap were prior publications, with one ("I Rise in Flame") noted as "to be published in a limited edition in late 1951." (The jacket is unclipped, with a $3.00 printed price at the lower front flap.) .
