- SIGNED
- N.pl. (France?) , 1920
N.pl. (France?), 1920. Very good. Light toning, short tears, some warping from adhesive used on tissue.. Original costume designs, rendered in pen and ink with watercolor, depicting fifty-nine (59) different historical figures, fashions, and styles from between 493 and 1807. Dated 1920, the designs are inscribed on the cover leaf in contemporary ink: "Presented to Mary Black Diller By Helen H. Holbrook January 1920". The designs are labeled in ink in a separate hand, with sadly no indication of who the original artist was. Each design is on its own small leaf of tissue paper pasted onto larger sheets, each measuring approx. 14" by 17". There are five leaves, with an additional cover leaf. Sometime disbound from original binding or portfolio. Fifty-nine (59) total designs (some sharing same tissue paper leaf).
