Fremont, Michigan: Gerber Products Company, 1961. Very good.. A small grouping of ephemera advertising the Gerber company to new mothers in 1961. Comprised of the following: one booklet of infant care advice ("Baby's Book"); one sign to hang on a nursery door ("Shhh! Baby's asleep"); a mail-in order for a Gerber brand silver spoon; a leaflet promoting the company's new wide-top jar; and a small art print with an image of the iconic Gerber baby illustration. Largest item is the booklet, measuring approx. 8.5" by 5.5", 32 pp. Subjects covered in the booklet include advice for fathers and grandparents, readying the nursery, bathing, feeding, play, preventing illness, first aid, and travel tips. Also includes a blank weight and height record, and immunization record. Provides good insight into parenting advice of the day, and how companies advertised their products to new mothers.
