King Henry the Fifth (Langston Hughes's Copy)
- Cloth
- Boston: Ginn and Company, 1908
Boston: Ginn and Company, 1908. Cloth. Very Good +. A wonderful Langston Hughes keepsake, possibly from his personal library. His copy --SIGNED BY HIM IN BLUE INK ACROSS THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER-- of a 1908 edition of Shakespeare's "King Henry the Fifth". It's entirely possible this was Langston Hughes's copy as a young school boy, given that this edition was published by Ginn and Company of Boston, a leading textbook publisher of the day. But it's certain this copy found its way into his literary world at some point and likely helped to influence his fertile young mind. The book itself has held up very nicely as well. Clean and VG+ to Near Fine in its navy-blue flexible cloth, with rubbing to the lettering along the spine. Rare as such.
