By Bradbury, Ray
New York: Ballantine Books (F 580). Very Good+. 1962. 2nd printing. Softcover. [light edgewear to covers, slight spine roll and concavity, original selling price carefully whited-out on front cover and spine]. Mass Market PB (pen & ink drawings) Nineteen stories "of the awesome [and] the macabre," including "The Jar," which was memorably adapted for TV's "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" in 1964. As Bradbury explains in an introductory note, fifteen of the stories had appeared in his first published book, "Dark Carnival," and "in some cases" were rewritten for the present volume. The cover illustration, although unsigned/uncredited, appears to have also been the work of Joe Mugnaini, whose full-page drawings illustrate a number of the stories. .
