The Otis Redding Show Publicity Kit

By [Otis Redding] Volt Records
Memphis, TN: Volt Records, 1965. Very Good +. [Memphis, TN]: Volt Records, 1965. Five loose sheets including photo-illustrated title page, printed on rectos only. Mild rubbing and toning, else Very Good or better.

Detail-rich promotional material for Otis Redding's 1965 tour, "a completely self-contained musical show of musicians, vocalists, bus drivers, body guards, road managers, and publicity agents," traveling over 100,000 miles per year on a new double decker bus. The kit details Redding's rise to fame after "These Arms of Mine" was released, emphasizing his magnetic stage presence, and profiling two members of the touring group, Al "Brisco" Clark and Loretta Willams, "the little lady with a voice of soul" who met Redding in Mobile, Alabama. An excellent record of Redding at the mid-point of his short but spectacular career, which was cut short when he died in a plane crash in December, 1967, just weeks after recording "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay." We find no copies separately cataloged in OCLC.
