1932 Framed Art Deco Bartender's Tray Serving as a Guide to Mixing Drinks
- Ephemera
- Colonial Sales Corporation, 1932
Colonial Sales Corporation, 1932. Ephemera. Very Good. 1932 framed silver tray (15 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" tall), wonderfully illustrated, very Art Deco in feel. Designed as a bartender's guide to mixing drinks, with 2 separate pinwheels (still functioning very well) revealing the ingredients of a particular drink through 4 small dye-cut squares. Essentially a stylish bartender's cheat sheet. And no wonder, given that some of the drinks (such as "The Bosom Caresser", "Between the Sheets", "The Apple Jack Rabbit", "The Charley Horse", "The Side Car" and "The Side Swipe", for example) must have stumped all but the very most seasoned bartenders. All told, 20 numbered cocktails are listed, the elusive ingredients to each revealed through turning the pinwheels and spying the 4 squares. The condition has held up very nicely to boot. The silver cardboard is bright and relatively clean (especially given its age and undoubted use), the original brown wooden frame lightly-scuffed but still very presentable. A charming Prohibition-era, Art Deco curio.
