A mid-1940's guide to infant care, penned by an important public health advocate and physician known for heading an infant welfare program that spurred a dramatic decrease in infant mortality in Chicago in the 1920s. This is a later, and updated, edition of a publication he wrote for parents of infants. Subjects covered include: breast and bottle feeding; weaning and sold foods; bathing; clothing and diapering; sleep; fresh air and sunshine; caring for a sick baby; common childhood diseases (e.g. measles, scarlet fever); caring for skin afflictions; growth and development; toilet training; caring for premature babies; and first aid. There is also a brief section on weight and a reference chart for ideal baby weights by age in weeks and months. Includes blank baby record chart on lower wrapper. Single vol.
