Penmanship" -- Original Artwork Showing Penmanship Skill
- United States , 1840
United States, 1840. Poor to fair. Toning, staining, letter folds and short tears/nicks.. An attractive example of original artwork by an adolescent learning penmanship and art. Each letter of the word "Penmanship" has been rendered in flourishes. There is also a manicule in the upper left-hand corner pointing to the word, and below a pencil drawing of a soldier on horseback holding his sword aloft. Measures approx. 9.75" by 10.5". Pencil with ink wash. Could perhaps have been used as a title page or cover for a penmanship sketchbook/notebook.
