New York: The Viking Press. Very Good in Poor dj. 1946. First Edition. Hardcover. [book is moderately shelfworn, lightly bumped at the lower corner, and with some fading to the cloth at the edges; the jacket is in pretty rough shape, heavily edgeworn, missing the lower two inches of the spine, with numerous small chips and tears and an internal tape-repair]. (B&W photo frontispiece) Kanin's hilarious comedy about a corrupt and uncouth junk tycoon and his not-so-dumb-after-all blonde girlfriend, who throws a wrench into his scheme to bribe a Congressman when they come to Washington and he hires a newpaper reporter to "educate" her. A triumph for July Holliday on both stage and screen; Broderick Crawford took over in the 1950 film version from her original Broadway co-star, Paul Douglas. .
