Fair. 486pp. Twenty-fourmo [12.5 cm] Black leather with embossed ornamental designs and double blind ruled borders on the boards. "L.D.S. Hymns" stamped in gilt with decorative flourishes on the spine. Green and white endpapers. *** Missing page 17/18. 1/2" split at head of spine, near front joint. Front endpaper cosmetically cracked along the hinge. Previous owner's name in pen on front free endpaper. Notations and markings in pen and pencil very occasionally in the text, however the preliminary and terminal leaves are more heavily marked. Fore-edge of title page chipped. Tape repairs to a couple of the pages. Pp. 71-74 nearly detached. Page numbers periodically contain numerals which are not printed in full. Flake #1786. The 25th edition of the LDS hymnal, first published in 1835 by Emma Smith, wife of LDS Church founder, Joseph Smith. 385 hymns contained in this edition.

"In this edition the names of the authors, as far as they could be ascertained, have been appended. Fifteen selected hymns have also been added. These are all choice poems and compositions, among them being several favorite funeral hymns, such as 'I Need Thee Every Hour,' 'Shall we Meet Beyond the River?' etc., and two standard patriotic songs, 'America' and the 'Star Spangled Banner.'
