This publication in the June 1915 issue of Poetry Magazine precedes the book edition by two years. At the urging of Ezra Pound, the foreign editor of Poetry Magazine, Harriet Monroe agreed to include "Prufrock" by the unknown T.S. Eliot in the June issue of her magazine. It was Eliot's first publication of a poem outside of a school or university.
