Front cover detached, title label on spine gone, covers tanned about edges which are moderately worn, leaves loosening, ffe loose. Contemporary owner bookplate on front pastedown. Signed by Huxley and dated by him 1924 on the ffe below which is tipped-in a small (2.5 x 3.5") snapshot of Huxley, cross-legged, sitting in Windsor chair, reading a book in front of a fireplace. Signed copies of Huxley's first books - or anything signed by him pre-1925 - are rather uncommon it appears.
