Frontispiece of Roosevelt on Glacier Point, 110(1) pp. Inscribed on the front free endpaper by Burroughs' biographer Clara Barrus who was also an accomplished author herself, and with a photograph of a plaque which commemorates the life of John Burroughs (1837-1921) and features a quote from him "I stand and the eternal ways and what is mine shall know my face". The site is located in Roxbury NY and includes his gravesite and the bas-relief plaque which is affixed to the rock which he frequently sat on and contemplated nature. illustrated with 12 photographic images (including frontispiece). Burroughs offers a spirited glimpse into President Theodore Roosevelt's adventures in the great outdoors. Filled with vivid scenes of camp life, wilderness rambles, and Roosevelt's infectious enthusiasm for nature, this charming little book is both a celebration of American wilderness and an intimate portrait of a president at play. A delightful blend of natural history and personal reminiscence. Bound in ran cloth lettered in brown spine lettering brown, one small bump to lower rear corner and a tiny rub mark to spine, and some off-setting to page 51 from something once laid in. A very nice copy.
