Australia: Unpublished, 1936. Manuscript. Very Good. Souvenir real photograph post card by Raphael Tuck of the British D.H. Comet, winner of the ENGLAND-AUSTRALIA AIR RACE 1934 piloted by Mr. C.W.A. Scott and Mr T. Campbell Black.A series of five original pen and ink vignettes entitled "An Australian Odyssey" signed by the artist Ainslie Roberts in the lower right corner. On the reverse are the signatures of C.W.A. Scott and Tom Campbell Black. SIngle sheet 6 1/4" by 4 3/4"C.W.A. Scott and T. Campbell Black were British aviators who, in October 1934, won the MacRobertson Air Race from England to Melbourne, Australia, in a de Havilland Comet. Their 11,296-mile flight was completed in a record-breaking 71 hours and significantly boosted the profile of both aviators and the de Havilland aircraft. Ainslie Roberts was a well known Australian painter, photographer, and artist. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia shortly before his death in June 1993.
