Biponti [i.e., Zweibrücken (Germany)]: ex typographia Societatis, 1792. 8vo, pp. [2], xcv, [1], 284, [4]; engraved vignette title page; bound without endpapers into contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards, green paper label on spine; some rubbing and wear, but otherwise a very good, sound and clean copy. Occasional early ink annotations and underlinings, especially in the Epistolarum. Bipont Editions (a.k.a. Bipontine Editions), was the name of a famous series of editions, in 50 volumes, of Greek and Latin classical authors, so called from Bipontium, the modern Latin name of Zweibrücken or Deux-Ponts in Bavaria, where they were first issued in 1779 by the Societas Bipontina under the supervision of the Society's founders the philologist Friedrich Christian Exter (1746-1817) and librarian Georg Christian Crollius (1728-1790). Their place of publication was afterwards transferred to Strasbourg (see EB online). Mills College Check List 826; not in Riedel-Horatiana.
