N.P., 1946. Good. 27½” x 41”. Good: splits at old folds repaired with tape on verso; large chip to upper left corner; light dust soiling and a couple of small stains.

This is a poster promoting several important Black entertainers that almost certainly relates to a 1946 short film, Stars on Parade, as each person named appeared in the film. Phil Moore was a jazz pianist and bandleader who supported stars such as Frank Sinatra and Lena Horne, and he arranged big-band music for Tommy Dorsey. He also worked on scores for over 30 other films but rarely received a writing credit.

Eddie South was a popular jazz violinist and Francine Everett was known for her appearances in this, as well as other, race films. Lucille “Lou” Swarz was an accomplished performer who performed monologues in one-woman shows from the 1930s to the 1950s. She taught theater and beauty at Douglass University, wrote a sports column for the New York Age and had her own radio show.

Likely unique.
