The first tale concerns the Weddiung of Sir Gawain to the Loathly Lady known only from a hastily written 16th century manuscript. The story of the Turk is from MS. Percy 212. Both tales were transcreipted by Sir Frederic Madden in the early 19th century. James Owens rendered the text into modern English, maintaining the meter and rhyme scheme of the originals.
