Head and tail pieces. Bound in contemporary vellum; edges stained red. Boards quite worn and soiled; split along front joint with exposure; bottom band frayed. Boards almost entirely separated from textblock; still attached at rear hinge. Preliminaries chipped and detached; title page chipped and starting to separate along bottom half of gutter edge; interior else legible and unmarked. A Good only but complete copy of an important text, detailing the institutional history of the Church of New Spain and many foundational decisions made therein with wide-ranging effects on colonial rule for the years to come.
