Carter, a Lebanon, New Hampshire importer and wholesale dealer of "British, French, German and American Fancy Goods" ranging from hosiery and gloves to brushes, ivory combs, silver ware, buttons, and imported cigars. The large wood engraved illustration at the head depicts a horse-drawn carriage passing by the business on a tree-lined road. The sale, written in ink, records the sale of the following goods to "M. Sawyer S. Jones": overalls; collars; beads; ivory combs; and gilt buttons. Measures approx. 9.5" by 8.5
