By The Harvard University Planning Office (Jose Luis Sert, Planning Consultant; John W. Teele, Planning Coordinator)
Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Planning Office, 1960. Cloth. Very Good +. The uncommon 1960 report (or "Inventory for Planning"), which sets out to "describe the physical setting of Harvard and its relationship to the metropolitan region of which it is a part. It attempts to outline some of the major planning problems and objectives of the University." With the asistance of Jose Luis Sert (1902-1983), the renowned Catalan architect and city planner, Harvard here attempts to present a game plan for growing and re-configuring parts of its campus. A clean, very sharp copy to boot. Solid and VG+ to Near Fine in its spiral-bound, russet cloth. Just a touch of light wear at the foot of the spine and very mild offsetting to the panels. Folio, first-rate depictions of plans, many of them in rich color, complementing the text. The Table of Contents is as follows: Section 1) The Boston Metropolitan Area; Section 2) The City of Cambridge; Section 3) The University Community; Section 4) The University; Section 6) Future Growth of the University; and Section 7) Problems for the Future.
